Why does my compression gear feel tight? Sizing tips for Storelli apparel

Last updated on Apr 03, 2026

Storelli compression gear is designed to fit snug. That's not a defect. It's the point.

Compression apparel works by sitting close to the body. It keeps padding in place, reduces movement, and lets you play without adjusting your gear every five minutes. A snug fit means the protection stays exactly where it's supposed to be.

What "Snug" Should Feel Like

  • Comfortable pressure. The gear should feel secure around your body without restricting movement or breathing.

  • Padding sits flat. Hip, knee, and thigh pads should align with your body, not bunch or shift.

  • Full range of motion. You should be able to run, dive, and slide without the fabric pulling or restricting you.

If the gear is cutting into skin, leaving marks, or making it hard to move, it's likely too small. If padding shifts around or the waistband slides, it's too big.

Youth Sizing

Youth sizes follow the same compression fit principles. Parents often expect a looser, more casual fit, but Storelli gear is built for the pitch, not the couch.

Tips for youth sizing:

  • Always measure your player. Don't go by age or the size they wear in school clothes.

  • Use the Fit Finder tool on each product page. Enter your player's measurements for a personalized recommendation.

  • Between sizes? For compression gear, go with the size that matches the larger measurement. A slightly looser compression fit still performs well.

  • 3/4 length items (leggings, shirts) can feel tighter than full-length versions because the compression is concentrated over a shorter area. This is normal.

How to Measure

  1. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of the waist, just above the hips.
  2. Hips: Measure around the widest part of the hips.
  3. Chest: Measure around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
  4. Head (for head guards): Measure circumference just above the eyebrows and ears.

Compare your measurements to the Size Guide tab on the product page. Every product has its own chart because sizing varies across product types.

Bundles

Bundles combine different product types (gloves, apparel, sliders). They don't include a single size guide. Check the individual product pages for each item in the bundle before ordering.

Bottom line: Storelli gear is built to perform under pressure. A snug fit is how it's designed to work. Measure, check the size guide, and trust the compression.
