How do I clean goalkeeper gloves properly?

Proper glove care is essential to extend the life of the latex and maintain grip. Here’s how to do it right:

Before First Use

  • Pre-wash your gloves in warm water (max 86°F / 30°C) without soap, or with GloveGlu Wash & Prepare.

  • Let them air dry naturally, away from heat and direct sunlight.

  • If your gloves come with a protective film, remove it after pre-washing (see our full glove guide for tips).

After Each Use

  1. Rinse Immediately

    • Wash your gloves as soon as possible after playing.

    • Use warm water (max 86°F / 30°C).

  2. Hand-Wash Only

    • Wash with your hands — never use a washing machine, scrubber, or harsh detergent.

    • Gently squeeze water through the latex (don’t wring them out).

  3. Dry Naturally

    • Pat with a towel to remove excess water.

    • Leave to air dry in a cool, shaded place.

    • Never dry with heat (dryer, radiator, hair dryer, or direct sunlight).

Storage Tips

  • Always wash before storing.

  • Store gloves in a cool, slightly moist environment.

  • Avoid keeping them too wet (bacteria/mold risk) or too dry (latex becomes brittle).

  • Do not store with palms pressed together — they can stick and tear.

Durability Tips

  • Expect normal latex wear even after the first use — it’s part of how soft latex provides grip.

  • On turf or dry surfaces, latex will wear faster.

  • Use your fists, not open palms, to push yourself up off the ground to reduce abrasion.
